Moderator Dr. Walter L. Glover, Jr.

 

The Rev. Dr. Walter L. Glover, Jr. is the only son of Mrs. Evelyn Paul Glover and the late Deacon Walter L. Glover, Sr. He is married to Dr. Beverly A. Williams Glover, and they are the parents of Walter Van Joseph Glover and daughter in law, Lashica Glover, and the grandparents of Damyon Maurice and Simone Artelia.

 Dr. Glover received his elementary and secondary education in the public schools of Bibb County, Georgia.  He attended Fort Valley State College, Fort Valley, Georgia; the American Baptist Theological Seminary, Nashville, Tennessee; Mercer University School of Religion, Macon, Georgia; the Universal Bible Institute, Alamo, Tennessee and the Faith College in Birmingham, Alabama.

 He holds the Bachelor of Theology, Master of Divinity, Doctor of Religious Education, Doctor of Divinity and Honorary Doctor of Laws Degrees.  He has received several awards and citations from schools, colleges, Civic and social organizations.

 He has also received proclamations from the city of Macon for outstanding contributions to the church and community.  He was selected as one of the outstanding Young Men of America for 1983.  He has also served as Minister of the Day in the Georgia State Senate and the Bibb County Commissioners.

 Dr. Glover has been preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ for forty-six years.  For the past thirty-nine years, Dr. Glover has been the pastoral leader of the Greater Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Inc., Macon, Georgia.  He has served as Moderator of the Union Baptist Missionary and Educational Association of Middle Georgia, Inc. for thirty-eight years.

 Dr. Glover has served in the following capacities:

   *Past President of the Sixth District of the General Missionary Baptist Convention (GMBC) of

Georgia Inc.

*Past Assistant Director of the Pastor’s Division of the Congress of Christian Education of GM                *Certified Dean of Christian Education, Department of Christian Education of The National                  Baptist Convention U.S.A. Inc.

*Member of the National Baptist Convention U.S.A. Inc.

*On August 27, 1994, Dr. Glover was honored by the Emmanuel Bible College, where he was the                   first recipient of the highest award given by the college, “The Eagle Award”

*Former faculty member of Emmanuel Bible College/Seminary Macon, Georgia

 *Founder and chairman of the Board of Directors of Zion Hill Early Learning Center, Inc

 *Past board member of America Technical Careers Institute

  *Appointed Chaplain for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department in 2001

  *Appointed Chaplain for the Macon Police Department & Fire Department in 2005

  *In 2001, elected as Director of Religious affairs for the Local Branch of the NAACP

  *Licensed Funeral Director

  *In 1992, Dr. Glover gave the official welcome at the National Baptist Convention in Atlanta, Ga.

   *In 1996, Dr. Glover preached in the Moderator’s Division at the National Baptist Convention in                  Orlando, Florida

  *First Banquet speaker for Parent’s Weekend at Fort Valley State College and participated in the                   1989 Commencement Service at Fort Valley State College, Fort Valley, Georgia

  *Member of the Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners and the National Funeral Directors                   Association and Chief Executive Officer of Glover Memorial Mortuary of Macon, Ga.

  *Brought the invocation for United State Senator, Max Cleland campaign kickoff in 2002

  *Chaplain of the Day in the Georgia State Senate at the invitation of Senator Richard Greene

  *2008 Chaplain of the Day in the Ga. State Senate at the invitation of the late Sen.  Robert Brown

  *2011 Chaplain of the Day in the Ga. State Senate at the invitation of the late Sen. Robert Brown
